Feature Article – Kicking It Up A Notch

Several years ago when I first moved to North Carolina, I started going to a local Unity Church. A lady friend whom I’d met at a Course in Miracles study group suggested that I would really love the atmosphere and what everybody was up to. Since I was new to town, and had few social outlets, I thought, “what do I have to lose.”

Mind you, my prior church experience was that of being a paid soloist for Sunday services, keeping a magazine in my music folder to read whilst the minister would expound on whatever he was blathering on about. After that, in New York I had the rare opportunity to be in the audience of a service given by Eric Butterworth. Rev. Butterworth made a huge impact teaching new thought to thousands upon thousands of New Yorkers and the world from his teachings and writings. But alas, once again, this was lost on me. You see, I was still an aspiring Jaded New Yorker. And thought this stuff sounded all too Pie-in-the-Sky and Pollyanna-like!

Interestingly, in this humble little gathering in Durham, NC in 2001, I attended and then fell in love with this group of Unity folk headed up by then minister, Rev. Geri Glinski. I offered my singing services gratis and was blessed beyond what I can express in mere words.

Powerful Transformation Can Come from Humble Beginnings

Many wonderful workshops and seminars were offered at this little store front church. After one workshop in particular, it was recommended that we adopt a practice for the next 30 days. You’ve heard that it takes between 21 and 30 days to instill a new habit. For the next 30 days, I with a partner, would team up to support each other in a goal or an intention that we wanted to manifest. And so we did, for the next 30 days, call each other on the phone. For a few minutes we would take turns telling our partner who we saw them as, what they had manifested, and seeing them already having accomplished what it was they wanted. It was a powerful practice.

Revisiting What Worked

I’ve recently found myself wanting to up my game – again. And I thought, “Hey, why not enroll my good friend Joy to team up with and amplify the energy”? Excellent idea! This is sort of like a prayer partner, but you speak to the other person as Who They Really Are, as their Expanded Self, the Source part of them. Today was Day 4 of our Possibility Partnership and it feels so amazing to have an aligned person speak to you about Who You Are, how powerful you are and what’s truly possible for you AS the Expanded Being that you are.

I recommend you find a buddy to play with. You can use this practice if there is an area that you want to shift from less than to more than, or even if you want to amplify what is already working. And keep a journal on what your desires are and chart the outcomes and results, both energetically and in what manifests physically. Remember, you’ll SEE it when you BELIEVE it. It’s all about re-conditioning the mind to allow or receive what you want. Once you possess in it consciousness, you’ll possess it in your physical reality. It is Law. The Law of Attraction.

• I’m working on a new collaboration…

A few years ago I read a wonderful book entitled “Riding Between the Worlds” by Linda Kohanov. This book explores the relationship between horses and people with the emphasis on people finding their authentic selves and healing from dysfunctional pasts. I was taken by an almost mystical quality of the author’s understanding of horses and people. That was before I understood more deeply about all of our interconnectedness, with people, animals, nature, all aspects of the seen and unseen.

So you can imagine my surprise and delight when after a talk I was giving on the Law of Attraction and Relationships a woman came up to me and told me what kind of work she does. My new friend, Schelli Whitehouse, coaches individuals and groups in Professional Equine Assisted Coaching Experience (PEACE). That may sound like a mouthful and perhaps even peculiar to you. I had my first experience a couple days ago and I can tell you it’s really very practical and telling. A short article will hardly give you the depth of my experience. Suffice it to say, that I’m so excited about the possibilities that Schelli and I are teaming up to do a Two Day Workshop on the material in my best selling book, Create the Love of Your Dreams, and Schelli’s work, The Way of the Horse. That probably won’t be the name of the workshop. But we DO have the dates. May 16 and 17th in Raleigh, North Carolina. And the price is AFFORDABLE.
